Where the questions come from

Frequently asked questions

How is the Rice Purity Test scored?

You start at 100 and lose one point for every item you tick. Tick 23 of the 100 items and your score is 77. A score of 100 means you have done none of them, 0 means all of them.

What is a good Rice Purity score?

There is no good or bad score: it counts experiences, not worth. As a guide, 90 to 97 means you have barely started the list, and anything under 50 means you have ticked more than half of it.

What does MPS mean in the Rice Purity Test?

MPS stands for Member of the Preferred Sex, the people you are attracted to. The Thresher uses it in items 25, 26 and 41.

Why is question 69 just a question mark?

The Thresher prints item 69 as a lone question mark, with no text. Tick it or not as you like: it counts for one point like every other item.

Is this the official Rice Purity Test?

The questions are the official ones, word for word, from The Rice Thresher, Rice University's student newspaper. This site is not affiliated with Rice University or the Thresher; their own page is ricepuritytest.com.
